As we celebrate Christ the King Sunday on Saturday, Novemeber 19, 2022 let us remember our brothers and sisters in Tanzania and the universality of the Church. Join us for this special fundraiser for our Sister Parish in Tanzania.
Events and activities include:
Our collaboration with St. Benedict the African Parish in Ilungu, Tanzania began when a seminarian staying at St. Benedict's requested rosaries from Mary's Rosary Assemblers in 2017. Through communication with CTK parishioners, word eventually got to Fr. Steve Smith, who was the pastor of CTK at that time. Through continued dialogue with Fr. Minde, who was likewise the pastor of St. Benedict's at that time, a plan was developed for CTK to partner with St. Benedict's to offer them assistance in various ways.
Farming is difficult in the area, and the conditions are poor in the area. Crops are used to sustain the village, and remaining crops are sold for profit.
Despite the poor conditions, St. Benedict's Parish has put God first in their lives. In gratitude for CTK's help, the parish has had an image commissioned of Christ depicted as a king.
Due to the cold climate, remote location, and poverty of the area, warm clothing can be difficult to come by. CTK has held warm clothing drives to assist in this need.
