“Is anyone among you sick? They should call for the priests of the church, and he will pray over them and anoint the sick with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise them up. If they have committed any sins, they will be forgiven."
- Letter of St. James 5:14-15
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is for those individuals who are experiencing a serious illness or major surgery and are in need of the Lord's strength and healing. One may celebrate the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick mutiple times throughout one's life as one encounters different illnesses and sicknesses.
If this is a sacramental emergency, you should call the office at 608.838.9797 and ask for Fr. Steve. If Fr. Steve is unavailable, leave a message, and he will respond to you as soon as possible. In addition, hospitals often have Catholic priests available as chaplains. In the event of an emergency, this may be a quick remedy to ask your nurse to send the priest hospital chaplain.
